What is it? Base Camp is a “difficult conversation game”: a repeatable, interactive exercise that facilitates interpersonal growth by creating space to practice hard conversations. Set within a story quest, it is a personal challenge, not a debate or competition.
What is the purpose? The purpose of Base Camp is to help small groups grow in skills of conflict transformation. Set within a story quest, Base Camp helps participants see each other and make space for disagreement and difference. It is a tool that can be used to facilitate silly conversations, serious conversations about important issues, or conversations around interpersonal communication and relationships.
Who is it for? Base Camp is designed for groups of three or more people (ages 12+) who want to grow in conversation skills. It’s great for book clubs, students, families, faith communities, or non-profit organizations doing bridge-building work.
The mission of Brave Talk Project is to help people develop skills of conflict transformation and courageous dialogue.Brave Talk was founded by author Melody Stanford Martin in 2019 and serves as an extension of the work in her book.
